What to do before and after your waxing appointment

While the experience and technique of the Esthetician plays a huge role in your wax experience,

your preparation before and after care are both very important. Prior to a bikini wax and after your waxing appointment there are several things that you can do to have a pleasant experience and fir aftercare. Here are some:

  • Do wear something loose and comfortable.

  • Do exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and reduce the chance of ingrown hairs.

  • Do allow 2-3 weeks after you last shaved before your wax appointment. Hopefully you will no longer shave but wax once per month.

  • Do NOT lay directly in the sun for the first 48 hours and when you do protect your skin with sunscreen

  • Do NOT drink alcohol with the idea that it will help numb the pain. Stimulants tend to tighten the pores from which the hair follicle is removed.

  • Do NOT get waxed immediately before your period and during as your body is more sensitive.

  • Do NOT touch your skin while the esthetician is waxing. Your hand may not be extremely clean and this can encourage irritation and infection.

  • Do NOT trim or use a shaver. You may do it too short, and the wax will not be able to properly grip the hair.

If you have any questions about your waxing appointment, make sure you speak with your esthetician prior to your appointment.  It is important that you also conspicuously make sure that the esthetician does not double dip. In some cases someone may have a full body wax, in which case this could use an entire can of wax. If this is the case, the esthetician MUST dispose of the can at the end of the service.
